Bacardi Rum Punch

I’m a Rum Punch lover. What I like most about this Bacardi Rum Punch is how easy it is to swap out the Bacardi rum flavors in the drink. Perfect for when you’re running low on stock, can’t shop, and need to whip up something quick- or you can’t budget in another lofty expense.

Our Bacardi Rum Punch Cocktail infuses four tropical juices with a dash of sugar syrup and Bacardi Rum. Nodding to its famous counterpart cocktail recipes, Jamaican Rum Punch, Bajan Rum Punch, and Caribbean Sunset Rum Punch, Bacardi Rum Punch is both bold and subtle with a crisp and clear, high-proof alcohol grade.

What Is Rum Punch And Its History

Rum Punch– a lusciously dark entanglement of fruity notes, and sugarcane has been a sought-after drink since 1500s. The word ‘Punch’ is believed to originate from the Hindi word for ‘five’, which refers to the traditional five elements: sour, sugar, spirit, water, and spice.

Rum consumption dates back to the early 1300s. However, when it comes to distilling rum for mass production, evidence of origin points back to the country of Brazil during their heavy trading days with Barbados. Then, sugarcane production was in overdrive. And with the Caribbean being both the most suitable climate and location for the commodity, rum immediately climbed to the top of the demand list. This was once discovered that sugar refining could also produce superb alcohol.

Since then, rum has made its way around the world and around the tropics- settling on the island of Cuba around the late 1800s and later morphing into the global brand of Bacardi Rum.

B a c a r d i Rum – Which one to choose?

Bacardi Rum is vegan and does not contain animal products. Here are the five Bacardi rums on the market commonly used for rum punches:

Bacardi Superior by Bacardi

Superior – the first rum to be produced, has a hint of almonds and fruit, giving the Bacardi Rum Punch a slight kick without overpowering the other ingredients. Perfect for rum runner cocktail.

Bacardi Spiced by Bacardi

Spiced – is a spiced rum that blends vanilla and cinnamon into the mixture, pumping up the sweet factor and making it a perfect mid-day pick-me-up on a light afternoon.

Bacardi Black Rum by Bacardi

Black Carta Negra Superior Black Rum – With notes of tropical fruit, buttery caramel, and vanilla, it finishes with a smoky liquorice and molasses taste.

Bacardi Gran Reserva Diez by Bacardi

Gran Reserva Diez – is a darker rum, having banana, pear, and peach at its base, perfect rum for Planters Punch. The Bacardi Rum Punch is beautifully balanced in this tropical cocktail and goes well with after-dinner wine tasting and desserts.

Bacardi Reserve Ocho by Bacardi

Reserve Ocho Rare Gold Rum – A Bacardi Reserva Ocho Rum Punch is all you need for the days when you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, but in a hammock near the water. Oak and dried apricots take over the nose and palate, and bring the rum punch down slightly for a more reserved night in.

My Bacardi Rum Punch Recipe

Mix orange juice, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice with lime juice, Demerara simple syrup (click the link see how simple to make your own), Agave syrup, or grenadine, then top it off with Bacardi. Fresh fruit juices are always the best. But if you need to use store-bought packet juices, please check the labels before purchasing, as not all packet juices are vegan. Some may contain gelatine or honey.

Sometimes, things can get tricky when trying to substitute liquors in punch. If not careful, you could wind up with a mess on your hands that nobody will be willing to drink. With my Bacardi Rum Punch cocktail, you’re able to switch and swap without digging too deep into your pockets. The recipe is unique to other rum punches, which is another reason it has become a weekly favorite.

How to Make Rum Punch

  1. Add ice to a cocktail shaker or mason jar. Combine Bacardi rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, cranberry juice, demerara syrup, and lime juice. Make sure the lid is closed and shake well.
  2. Put fresh ice in a drinking glass. Place the glass on the counter and strain rum punch into it. A slice of orange and an umbrella (optional) may be garnished on top of the rum punch.😘

Cocktail Variations

✴️ Sampling five rums above within one batch of ingredients are what I call a dollar well spent. Here, you have the luxury of layering the rums without completely changing the taste of the punch.

✴️ No matter which Bacardi rum you choose, following recipe ratios will ensure that your night ends on a tropical note. For one serve, you need 2 ounces of Bacardi Rum to 2 ounces of pineapple juice. 1 ounce of orange juice to 1 ounce of cranberry juice and lime juice. Adjust the amount of sugar syrup to your preference.
