3 toppings for smoothie

We made this easy smoothie recipe by using frozen mixed berries and bananas from our freezer paired with plant-based milk, chia seeds, and maple syrup to sweeten it.

There is no yogurt in this smoothie recipe. And by using frozen fruits, there is no need to add ice to the smoothie.

This can also be made into a smoothie bowl by using less coconut milk. Add toppings such as granola, chia seeds, sliced fresh fruits, shredded coconut, and drizzled peanut butter or almond butter.

My Smoothie Recipe Without Yogurt

There are times when you don’t have vegan yogurt on hand when you want to have a smoothie. It is still possible to make a rich and creamy smoothie without yogurt

Besides making smoothies creamy and thick, there are other methods. With bananas, you can achieve a creamy texture and thickness.

ingredient list for smoothie
  • Frozen Blackberries, Strawberries, and Bananas– You can freeze your fresh fruits before making a smoothie. Or alternatively, just use store-bought frozen fruits. Berries are overflowing with antioxidants called anthocyanin, Vitamin C, and quercetin. Smoothies are the best way to reap all the benefits.
  • Coconut Milk– You can use full-fat or lite unsweetened coconut milk. If you don’t like coconut milk, you can opt for soy milk, almond milk, or cashew milk…etc.
  • Chia Seeds– black or white is up to you.
  • Maple Syrup

You can also add plant-based protein powder if you wish to increase your protein intake

How to Make Blackberry Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Using a powerful blender will give you the creamiest smoothies, and it doesn’t need to be expensive. I use this blender for all my cooking and I’m very happy with it.

blending smoothie
  1. Add frozen bananas, strawberries, blackberries, coconut milk, chia seeds, and maple syrup to a blender. Start with less coconut milk and add gradually if necessary.
  2. Ensure that you blend until smooth. You can adjust the thickness to your preference.

Pro Tips

  •  Simply add some ice cubes to your smoothie if your fruit wasn’t frozen enough.
  • You may need to add a little bit of milk or water if your smoothie is too thick.
  • If your smoothie is too thin, add more frozen fruit to thicken it. You should always adjust the amount of the ingredients to achieve the results you desire.
