What Is Pumpkin Spice?
Pumpkin spice aka pumpkin pie spice is a popular spice blend that is commonly associated with autumn and fall-themed foods and beverages.
It typically consists of a mixture of warm and aromatic spices (similar to Chai spices), including cinnamon and nutmeg, and other spices as well.
The blend depends on where you bought it. These spices are known for their comforting and cozy flavors, making them perfect for seasonal treats. Keep in mind that other pumpkin spice blends don’t contain actual pumpkins.
But in this recipe, we DO use real pumpkin. It just adds to the autumn vibe and helps our iced pumpkin latte recipe have that warm, cozy, pumpkin flavor.
Uses Of Pumpkin Spice
Perhaps the most famous use of pumpkin spice is in Latte, a beloved and popular autumn beverage sold at coffee shops like Starbucks.
It combines espresso with steamed milk and pumpkin spice, topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of more pumpkin spice.
🎃 Baking: Pumpkin spice is often used in baking to flavor various treats like pumpkin pies, muffins, cookies, cakes, and bread. It adds a warm and comforting flavor profile to these baked goods.
🎃 Pancakes and Waffles: You can incorporate pumpkin spice into pancake or waffle batter to make delicious breakfast dishes.
🎃 Spiced Nuts: Pumpkin spice can be used to season roasted nuts, making them a festive and tasty snack.
🎃 Roasted Vegetables: Use a dash of pumpkin spice when roasting vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, or butternut squash to add a hint of warmth and sweetness.
🎃 Smoothies: Pumpkin spice can be added to smoothies, especially those featuring pumpkin puree, yogurt, or milk, to create a flavorful and nutritious fall-themed drink.
