Sometimes, it is always the simple recipes that taste the best. This Green Beans and Potatoes (Asian-style) is a quick side dish. Pan-fried potatoes and lightly charred green beans glazed with a soy-based garlicky sauce.
This dish not just smells good but also tastes so good. The best part is, it goes with almost everything. I mean honestly, you could even serve it with a piece of bread!

Green Beans and Potatoes (Asian style)
This potato and green beans stir fry is a great combination of carbs and vitamins. Fresh green beans can be steamed, roasted, or sauteed.
I like sauteeing green beans as I find when steaming and roasting it’s easy to overcook them.
The unique quality of this dish is that the green beans are lightly charred, when you bite into the green beans, you can taste the blistered skin and tender center in every bite…also buzzing with flavor!
Vegan Recipes with Potatoes
For this dish, we only need three main ingredients and five ingredients for the sauce. How simple is that?
- Types of Potatoes: Peeled, diced into roughly 1×1 cm dice, leave them in the water before cooking(to get rid of starch)
- Green Beans: If possible, choose young green beans (they tend to be juicier inside), washed and dice them into 1 cm lengths.
- Spring Onion: washed and finely sliced.
- Light Soy Sauce: L.K.K brand
- Vegan Oyster Sauce: Ayam or L.K.K brand.
- Minced Garlic: Freshly grated garlic is the best, always!
- Chinese Cooking Wine: a.k.a. Shaoxing rice wine, is the key ingredient that gives the dish depth of flavor and complexity
- Water
How to make GREEN BEANS AND POTATOES + Video
- Mix light soy sauce, vegan oyster sauce, Chinese cooking wine, minced garlic, and water together in a bowl.
- Heat up oil in medium heat in the wok, add diced potatoes in, stirring and pan-frying for around 8-10 minutes until potatoes are cooked with a golden color crust outside.
- Add dice green beans in, and keep stir-frying until green beans are lightly charred outside(around 3-4 minutes)
- Turn the gas stove on full whack. Add the sauce mixture to the wok.
- Constant stirring until the sauce is disappeared
- Finish with sliced spring onion, quickly fry for 30 seconds then serve!

- 3 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 350 g Potato( Peeled and diced)
- 200 g Green Beans(diced)
- 20 g Spring Onion
Cooking Sauce
- 4 Tbsp Chinese Cooking Wine
- 2 Tbsp Light Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Vegan Oyster Sauce
- 4 clove Garlic(minced)
- 4 Tbsp Water
Garnish
- 1/4 Tsp Red Chili Flakes( optional)
Instructions
